FCSS offers preventative social programs and services targeting prenatal through to senior citizens and even post-life (helping to fill out death paperwork). Programs must be geared to build the capacity and independence of individuals, families, and community. Each FCSS in Alberta is free to choose the programs and services it wants to develop as long as it is meeting the FCSS mandate. A volunteer centre helps to build the capacity for stronger governance of non-profits and promote volunteerism.
